According to the spokesman, about five thousand Russian soldiers were surrounded in the Estuary area.
“There, indeed, our data showed that the Russian group (in the Lyman area – ed.) there was a number in the region of 5-5.5 thousand. Nevertheless, active hostilities “canceled” their combat composition, as well as some groups that tried to break through. This still needs analysis and then it will be possible to say in more detail,” he said.
Cherevaty noted that attempts to break through Russian troops are still being recorded, but they are “not very successful” thanks to the Armed Forces. He explained: Lyman is important because it is another step towards the liberation of Donbas.
“This is also psychologically very important. The Ukrainian armed forces are beginning to dictate their will, and not just to fight back and stand on the defensive, and to turn the tide of hostilities. This is very important both for our army, because it supports its spirit, and for breaking the morale of the enemy,” the spokesman concluded.
