In his video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded that in Turkey, five defenders of Azovstal had met with members of their families. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine appreciates people, helps everyone who needs help, and will do everything to ensure that Ukrainians who are still in Russian captivity meet with their relatives .

“Finally, we managed to organize a meeting of our guys, commanders from Azovstal, with relatives. The meeting is in Turkey, where our soldiers are in accordance with the agreement on their liberation. They are completely safe – with guarantees from Turkish President Erdogan. They are provided with proper conditions. And now they can see their relatives. They have not seen each other for many months,” Zelenskyy said.
He also thanked all those who provided Ukrainian defenders with the opportunity to be with their families again.
“And we will do everything to make such a meeting possible for the families of all Ukrainians who are still in Russian captivity – a meeting with relatives. Ukraine appreciates people. Saves people. And it helps all those who need help. These are fundamental rules for our state. And it will always be so,” the president stressed.
Zelenskyy added that a large group of our officials continues to work to provide the necessary assistance to all those who were released from Russian captivity.
“There are a lot of questions, as you understand. This is not only treatment and rehabilitation, but also a large number of social issues, often legal ones. The state will definitely help to solve all of them,” he said.

On September 22, there was a large exchange of prisoners. 215 people were returned from Russian captivity.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that five commanders of the defenders of Mariupol, who were released from Russian captivity, would remain in Turkey until the end of the war.
