The Government of Japan, in response to the annexation of the occupied territories of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine, imposed additional sanctions on Russia. They affect more than 80 citizens and 9 organizations of the country. Their assets will be frozen. The sanctions list is published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country .

The plenipotentiary representative in the North Caucasus Federal District, Yuri Chaika, relatives of Chechnya Chairman Ramzan Kadyrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev fell under the restrictions.
Moreover, the list includes Russian gymnast Alina Kabaeva, propagandist and editor-in-chief of the RT channel Margarita Simonyan and General of the Russian Armed Forces Yuri Grekhov.
Japan also imposed restrictions against the Rusich organization, Rostec Corporation, Kalashnikov Concern, Constellation, as well as against collaborators who support Russian armed aggression.
In turn, Deputy Chief Secretary of the Country’s Cabinet of Ministers Kihara Seiji told reporters that the actions, which Russia calls “referendums” and “incorporation”, encroach on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and are a violation of international law.
He noted that Japan will continue to work with other members of the G7 and the international community to move tough sanctions against Russia forward.

On October 6, the EU adopted another package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the illegal annexation of the occupied territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
