The Ukrainian human rights organization “Center for Civil Liberties” stressed that the Nobel Prize belongs to every Ukrainian and is a common victory for the whole nation. This was emphasized at a briefing by the head of the organization Oleksandra Matviychuk .
She also commented on the allegations against the organizers regarding the receipt of the Prize by the aggressor countries — Russia and Belarus.

“We do not regard this distinction, which rightfully belongs to all people in Ukraine who are fighting for freedom and for democracy, as the Soviet old narrative of “brotherly peoples”. This story is about resisting common evil. This story is about the fact that human rights defenders in different countries build horizontal ties with each other in order to solve problems that do not have state borders,” Matviychuk said.
She added that so far none of the representatives of the state authorities congratulated the organization on the Prize.
“The President of Ukraine has not congratulated us yet. If even one of the representatives of the authorities had called us yesterday, they would not have reached us. So we’ll wait. This award belongs to the entire Ukrainian people, so everyone can be congratulated,” Matviychuk said.
Supplement
The Nobel Peace Prize 2022 was awarded to Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatsky, the Russian human rights organization Memorial, and the Ukrainian human rights organization Center for Civil Liberties.
Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak said that the Nobel Committee has an interesting understanding of the word “peace” if the prize is received by representatives of the aggressor countries.
“The Nobel Committee definitely has an interesting understanding of the word “peace” if representatives of two countries that attacked the third one receive the Nobel Prize together. Neither Russian nor Belarusian organizations have been able to organize resistance to this war. This year’s Nobel is just “super,” Podolyak wrote on Twitter.
