A magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred in the Gulf of Corinth in central Greece, but there were no reports of destruction or casualties as of Sunday morning, authorities said.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), which revised the initial magnitude of 5.7, said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers below the surface in the gulf separating mainland Greece from the Peloponnese peninsula, 16 kilometers from the city of Itea.
The tremor, which occurred immediately after the first hour of the night local time, was felt even in the capital Athens, about 115 kilometers away.
