Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Europe would face a difficult winter due to restrictions on gas supplies from Russia.

“Now the whole of Europe is asking the question: ‘How will this winter go?'” Erdogan said at a meeting with members of the Turkish Youth Foundation in Istanbul, saying that Turkey itself will have no problems with energy resources this winter.
He also stated that Ankara plays a leading role in mediation efforts for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

Russia has cut supplies or cut off natural gas for the 13 member states, leading to a sharp rise in gas and electricity prices, which could rise higher when demand peaks during the colder months.
