“The 11th Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly is currently underway in New York. Previously, tomorrow a new resolution on our country “Territorial Integrity of Ukraine: Defending the Principles of the UN Charter” should be adopted. 67 states have already become co-authors of the document,” the diplomat said.

Dzhaparova noted that the document well reflects “the essence of what Ukraine protects and fights for”: a resolution not only on supporting the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state, but also on the ability of the international community to defend the fundamental principles of the UN Charter.
Thus, according to her, the main signals of the draft resolution, which is currently being considered by the emergency special session, are:
- confirmation of the nullity of the results of “referendums” and rejection of any change in the status of Ukrainian regions;
- a call to states, international organizations and specialized UN agencies not to recognize any changes in the status of regions of Ukraine;
- a demand for the Russian Federation to immediately and unconditionally reverse its decisions on the status of regions of Ukraine and immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The Deputy Minister also reminded that from 2014 until the beginning of the full-scale invasion, at the initiative of Ukraine, 11 resolutions of the General Assembly had already been adopted: on the territorial integrity of our state, the protection of human rights in the occupied Crimea and on the problem of Russia’s militarization of the Ukrainian peninsula.
After February 24, the UN General Assembly has already approved two equally important resolutions for Ukraine: “Aggression against Ukraine” and “Humanitarian consequences of aggression against Ukraine”.
“Ukraine, together with its partners, is already preparing updated and substantively strengthened draft resolutions on Crimea, as well as on the creation of a compensation mechanism for losses caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine; creation of a Special Criminal Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine; and on the environmental damage caused by Russia,” the diplomat said.
Recall
This week, at the request of Ukraine and Albania, a special emergency session of the UN General Assembly resumed its work.
On its first day, the UN General Assembly voted to reject Russia’s call for a 193-member organization to hold a secret ballot later this week condemning Moscow’s annexation of four partially occupied regions of Ukraine.
