For example, Macron said that “the goals of the war are clear – to return to the borders of 1991”, and reiterated that he did not want to burn bridges and would continue negotiations with the Russian president “when necessary,” the French leader was quoted as saying by the Les Echos newspaper.
According to BFMTV, the only outcome Macron anticipates regarding the war is a return to the negotiating table between Kyiv and Moscow.
“At some point, I hope as soon as possible, we will have to return to the negotiating table. (…) I believe that at some point it is in the interests of Ukraine and Russia to return to the negotiating table,” the French head of state said.
He also stated that France would supply Ukraine with air defense systems and missiles.
“We will supply radars, systems and missiles (air defense – ed.) to protect (Ukrainians) from attacks, in particular, to protect against drone attacks,” he said.
The Head of State added that France had already supplied 18 ACS CAESAR.

France has been repeatedly criticized for its low level of military support for Ukraine compared to its allies, but officials and experts say the basis of differences is ability, not political will.
According to the August rating of the Kiel Institute of the World Economy, military assistance to France of 233 million euros puts it in 11th place in the world, significantly behind the United States (25 billion euros), the United Kingdom (4 billion euros) and Poland (1.8 billion euros).
