Russia again blocked the issuance of a joint communiqué following a session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) calling for an end to the war in Ukraine, Spanish Economy Minister Nadia Calvigno said following the IMF session the day before .

“All week, Russia has been urged to end the war against Ukraine. This war is the most important factor that slows economic growth, generates inflation, instability and uncertainty and threatens energy and food security,” Calvigno said.

The draft communiqué reportedly said that the war in Ukraine is a major factor undermining the economy and security.
IMF Governor Kristalina Georgieva also expressed the opinion that the easiest way to improve the state of the world economy is to stop the war.
“At the same time, representatives of Russia did not agree with such arguments, and this forced the IMF steering committee to issue instead of a communiqué with a statement from the chairman, which reflects unanimity on many economic issues,” the publication writes.
Previously
because of its disagreement with its invasion of Ukraine also blocked the issuance of the IMF communiqué following the fund’s previous session in April this year.
