Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 6, 2021 – Local News
The Ukrainian Delegation to the EU stated that the introduction of the mandatory receipt of a paid permit to enter the European Union without a visa for Ukrainian citizens, which was scheduled for January 1, 2021, has been postponed to 2022.
“It is expected that the actual implementation of the European Travel Authorization Information System (ETIAS) will take place in 2022. Previously, the date was 2021, but the European Union postponed this deadline to 2022. Only in 2022, citizens of Ukraine will have to fill out an application for ETIAS before traveling to The European Union, ” it said.
In connection with the introduction of the new rules, an information campaign is planned for 2021 to clarify these requirements.
The representative office reminds that they have been introduced not only for Ukraine.
“The system will apply to third-country nationals who enjoy visa-free travel with the EU. Such individuals will need to obtain prior travel authorization by submitting an online application,” it says.
At the moment, the application fee is set at 7 euros for applicants between the ages of 18 and 70, for the rest it is free.
No later than 4 days before the trip, the online system will need to provide personal and contact information (information about your travel documents, place of residence, education, work, and so on) to assess potential migration or safety risks.
Issuance of authorization for travel should take several minutes in the absence of records in the databases of law enforcement officers.
The permit will be valid for 3 years or until the expiry of the passport for travel up to 90 days.
If entry is denied through the system, it will be possible to appeal against its decision.
The Delegation explains that pre-authorization will allow for the preventive identification of persons who may pose a migration or security threat, and will increase the security of the EU borders
