Meloni and her coalition partners, Silvio Berlusconi, leader of the center-right Forza Italia party, and Matteo Salvini, leader of the anti-migrant League party, met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the presidential palace on Friday morning.
“Georgia Maloney accepted the mandate and presented her list of ministers,” presidential spokesman Hugo Zampetti told reporters after Maloney met with the president at Quirinal Palace.
The new government will be officially sworn in on Saturday morning, after which it is due to receive a vote of confidence in both houses of parliament, scheduled for next week.
