Emergency power outages have been introduced in the western regions of Ukraine .
Lviv region
The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi, said on Telegram on Tuesday, October 25, shortly before noon, that rolling blackouts had begun in the Lviv region.
“Rolling blackouts have begun in our area. They differ from the planned ones in that it is difficult to predict when they will take place and how long they will last. Therefore, there is no separate schedule with time and settlement where there will be no electricity,” he wrote.
And he advised to find out why there is no electricity in a particular settlement and when the power supply will be tentatively restored, on the website of regional power distribution companies or call the hotline.
“It is important: power engineers will alternate shutdowns in different settlements so that everyone has the opportunity to use electrical appliances in their needs. Such restrictions on the supply of electricity apply in all regions of Ukraine for industrial and other categories of consumers. These are controlled measures to reduce the load on the power grid and balance the operation of the power system,” he said.
Volyn region
Volynoblenergo also reported that there were rolling blackouts in Volyn.
“On October 25, in the Volyn region, according to the order of the dispatcher of NPC Ukrenergo, emergency shutdown schedules for the population are applied. The procedure for the use of queues, the place of disconnection and its duration are determined by order and in full coordination with the dispatcher of the Western region,” the company said on Facebook.
They pointed out that information about the reasons for applying this measure, its beginning, end and other information that may create an idea of the potential of energy facilities “is information with limited access during martial law.”
“Such shutdowns are alternately introduced in all districts of the region. We ask volyn residents to treat the current situation with understanding,” the regional power distribution companies stressed.
And they called on small, medium-sized businesses and household consumers from 07:00 to 23:00 to minimize the use of energy-consuming devices: heaters, boilers, electric stoves, washing machines, ovens, air conditioners, microwaves.
Ternopil region
“In accordance with the order of the ACC of the Western region of NPC Ukrenergo, today in some settlements of the Ternopil region a schedule of emergency outages of electricity consumers has been introduced. As of 11.00, 171 settlements of the region remained without electricity,” said Volodymyr Trush, the head of the Ternopil OVA, on Telegram on October 25.
The decision to disconnect or restore a particular power supply line, in his words, is made “in connection with an increase (decrease) in the load on the power system.”
He also asked residents of the region to reduce electricity consumption, especially during the morning and evening peaks (6:00-11:00 and 17:00-23:00).
