French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday asked Pope Francis during a meeting in the Vatican to call Russian President Vladimir Putin, head of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill and American President Joe Biden to “facilitate the peace process” in Ukraine .

“I urged Pope Francis to call Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, as well as Joe Biden,” Macron told Le Point weekly, “we need the United States to sit down at the negotiating table to advance the peace process in Ukraine.”
“Joe Biden,” Macron continued, “has a genuine trusting relationship with the Pope.”

Macron was received yesterday by Pope Francis for the third time since he became president. As it became known, the meeting was mainly devoted to the war in Ukraine.
