NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Russia should not use false pretexts to further escalate, referring to claims of a “dirty bomb”. The corresponding statement of October 25 is posted on the NATO website.

The Secretary General is said to have touched on Moscow’s recent claims that Ukraine is preparing to use a “dirty bomb” on its own territory, stressing that “NATO allies reject this clearly false claim.”
He said Russia “should not use false pretexts for further escalation.”
Stoltenberg also condemned Iran’s military support for Russia’s military actions, saying that “no country should help the aggressor in an illegal war,” and welcomed the sanctions allies and the European Union impose on Tehran.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu staged a “telephone carousel” with allegations of a “dirty bomb” of Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called the statements absurd and false. And he invited IAEA experts.
The U.S., U.K. and France have rejected Shoigu’s claims of a “dirty bomb.”
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the organization’s employees will visit two nuclear facilities with the inspection at the request of Kyiv in the near future.
Energoatom noted that Russia’s statements about the creation of a “dirty nuclear bomb” may indicate the preparation of an act of nuclear terrorism on its part.
