German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier commented on his visit to Ukraine the day before, for the first time since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against our country, saying that everything is much worse than imagined in Germany. He said this in an interview with Tagesschau .

He recalled that he was forced to spend about two hours in one of the shelters of the Chernihiv region due to an air alarm declared in the country.

“Everything is much scarier than we imagine in Germany. I was shocked by the stories we were told. Everyone who can think and sympathize wants the fighting in Ukraine to stop,” he said.
The President of Germany also noted that peace must be fair. According to him, this means that Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity must be preserved.
He also “disappointed those who expect a quick end to the war.” The President believes that Ukraine is not at the stage of war when such a schedule of events is possible.
