There is a specific characteristic related to temperament and is called behavioral inhibition (PG). It is characterized by caution, fear and suspicious behavior towards strangers, objects and situations.
The GHG index is relatively stable in childhood. But studies have shown that children with diagnosed BI are more at risk of developing social abstinence and anxiety disorders than others. A group of scientists evaluated BI at the age of 14 months and 15 years. She also studied neurophysiological parameters to assess negative error response (ERN), which is a negative failure in the electrical signal of the brain that occurs after several unsuccessful attempts to solve problems.
It turned out that the great strength of the corresponding ERN brain signal was associated with disorders such as anxiety. A lower rate was associated with impulsivity and substance abuse. The final test was conducted at 26 years old. According to scientists, BI at the age of 14 months predicted the presence at 26 years of a more restrained personality, fewer romantic relationships over the past 10 years and lower social interaction with friends and family.
