“In Kyiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Cherkasy regions, stricter restrictions on electricity supply are being applied today,” Tymoshenko said. “Outages can last longer than 4 hours, but power engineers are doing everything they can to stabilize the system.”
He stressed that this is necessary to overcome the consequences of the night attack of the occupiers on the infrastructure.
Context
Russia targeted energy facilities in Ukraine in October. After massive Russian strikes since October 10, a third of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has suffered. After another attack on October 22, Ukrenergo reported that the scale of damage from the strikes was comparable or greater than the consequences of October 10-12. To stabilize the situation, rolling blackouts were introduced.
On October 27, at night, Russian troops again attacked Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Equipment in the central regions was damaged. In order to prevent the complete de-energization of the central region, energy workers are forced to impose stricter restrictions.
