There are about 4300 Russian servicemen on the territory of Belarus. This group is very limited in heavy weapons systems, and the majority – about 80% of the group – is mobilized personnel. This was announced by the Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Major General Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with the American publication “The War Zone”,

“Cutting off supply lines from the west is a strategic goal of the enemy. And, one might say, this is a cherished dream of the Russian Federation. If we talk about Russian military activities in Belarus, now the presence of the Russian military in Belarus is not so great. There are only about 4300 troops there. And they are very limited. This group is very limited in heavy weapons systems, and the majority – about 80% of the group – is mobilized personnel. So, I can say that at the present stage there is no threat of invasion from Belarus,” Budanov said.
However, he noted that the situation could change very quickly when Russia loses Kherson.
“After leaving Kherson, this combat-ready group will be partially redeployed to the Zaporizhia direction, but some of them can move to Belarus and pose a threat there,” Budanov said.

Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexey Gromov reported on October 27 that the joint activities of Russian and Belarusian troops indicated preparations for escalation, but military maneuvers indicate that Belarus does not plan to attack Ukraine at the moment.
