Russia could transfer Dagger missiles to Belarus: British intelligence named the target
KYIV. November 1. UNN. Russia probably transferred MiG-31K fighter aircraft to the territory of Belarus, which can carry hypersonic Dagger missiles. This was reported by the intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense, informs UNN.
Details
British intelligence published a photo for October 17 with two MiG-31K fighter aircraft, which are probably stationed at the Belarusian Machulishi airfield. The photo also features a large container in a protective earthen mound.
“Presumably, the container is associated with the AS-24 KILLJOY air launch ballistic missile (Kh-47M2 “Dagger” – ed.), large-sized ammunition, for the carrying of which a variant of the MiG-31K is adapted,” the message says.
As noted, Russia has been using this type of missile since 2018, but has not previously deployed it in Belarus. The aggressor country sometimes used these weapons during the war in Ukraine, but its reserves are probably very limited, according to the British Ministry of Defense.
“With a range of more than 2000 kilometers, the deployment of a missile in Belarus gives Russia a small additional advantage in terms of defeating targets on the territory of Ukraine.
Presumably, the missiles were deployed in order to send a message to the West and portray Belarus as an increasing accomplice to the war,” British intelligence added
