Ukrainians were explained the difference between emergency and planned power outages, and who is introducing them. NPC Ukrenergo came out with an explanation .
Details
The company explained why local regional power distribution companies report the use of emergency outages (GAV), while Ukrenergo reports on the use of hourly outage schedules (GPV). “The fact is that GPV and GAV are measures to stabilize the operation of the power system, which complement each other,” the company said.
As Ukrenergo explained, hourly outages are valid until the dispatcher of a particular regional power distribution company sees in himself on the monitor a sharp simultaneous increase in electricity consumption. To avoid additional accidents, he decides to apply emergency measures, that is, schedules of emergency outages in the region.
And when excessive consumption and the threat of network overload passes, hourly ones continue to operate instead of emergency outages.
“It is for this reason that electricity may disappear not at the hours declared by the power engineers in your area, and the shutdown may last longer than stated,” Ukrenergo explained.
