“If the Russians go and admit that they have made a terrible mistake, if at all we can talk about a mistake in these circumstances, then we could look for a format for dialogue,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, if Ukrainians continue to sacrifice thousands of lives to achieve the liberation of Ukrainian territories, it will hinder the negotiation process for many years.
“We are seeing a very specific intention to occupy and destroy Ukraine. What should I say to someone who wants to destroy us? There would be no point in this conversation,” the president said.
In addition, Zelenskyy stressed that the “last straw” was referendums on Russia’s annexation of the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
Recall
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that Russia had begun to manipulate the topic of negotiations to stop the liberation of Ukraine, regroup forces and accumulate resources for a new strike.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the rhetoric of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin suggests that he is not interested in serious negotiations with Ukraine and still believes in winning militarily.
