“Recently, unknown persons have destroyed two monuments with explosives. My position is this: there are enough explosions from Russian missiles in Mykolaiv. And any explosions in the city are unacceptable. Moreover, they, like Russian missiles, destroy the property of our residents, that is, the windows of the house, roofs. We don’t know who does it. Therefore, we are waiting for information from our law enforcement agencies,” the mayor said.

He suggested that it could be either residents of the Nikolaev region, or even Russian saboteurs.
“If it’s some local activist or activist, it’s not done with a lot of reason. After all, for example: the last monument that was destroyed, actually the night before yesterday – it stood on a mass grave. More than 80 bodies of fighters who died during the Second World War, when they repulsed Nikolaev, are buried there. That is, it was not some kind of monument to the Soviet regime there, or “with a serp and a hammer.” It was a monument at the burial site,” the mayor adds.
Sienkiewicz stressed that all monuments were removed in the city, which the state authorities recommended to remove during the mass decommunization in 2015-2016.
He added that some monuments were dismantled later. On some, the remnants of references to the regime were eliminated.
The mayor emphasizes that for such actions state mechanisms should be introduced, according to which this should take place.
“During the war, we renamed Moskovskaya Street. Today it is called Mariupol – it is one of the central streets of the city of Mykolaiv. And actually, other streets were renamed before the full-scale invasion. A commission was created that dealt with the issue of renaming streets. Most of them got their historical names, which were before. Most of them got their historical names, which were before,” the mayor added.
Supplement
A monument to the Chekists was destroyed in Mykolaiv.
On November 3, it became known that a monument was blown up in Mykolaiv at night. This is the second time since the invasion. Like the previous one, it is also of Soviet origin.
