Although it is currently impossible to do without an air alarm signal, it is in itself an irritant to the psyche. In addition, many have imaginary, phantom alarms.

“Frequent air alarms constantly keep a person stressed. The worst thing that can happen to a person is when they ignore these air alarms, or go down simply as a “familiar thing”. It’s the worst. Why? In this case, the instinct of self-defense does not work: “Run, stand, freeze.” A person may be disoriented, not know what exactly he needs to do, “explained Gorokhova-Torovik.
Only the person himself is responsible for his life, no one else – the psychologist stressed.
“If these anxieties are frequent, we begin to somehow react, twitch at every noise, listen to everything – we can say that this is normal, because we are all healthy people, living people, to any sound that we perceive, everyday, we react, again, “Run, stand, freeze” – the instinct of self-defense, animal instinct works. We have to respond to that right away. How will we react? If this is a constant state of panic: only an air alarm and a person has panic, then the person will not be able to navigate, it is normal to solve something. It will create a “problem”, and our “problems” are not solved, they are only being created. When we look at it as a “situation” that we can solve, we calm down, take a deep breath, exhale slowly. “Who am I? Where am I now? What can I do now?” clearly. If a person has already formed a clear plan of action for what he needs to do during air alarms, then he is organized, then works according to the plan that he planned, “the psychologist explained.
The expert believes that the enemy seeks to sow panic, fear in order to be able to control us.
“When a person is in a panic, he is afraid. Fear works for her, and if a person is afraid, then it is very cool to manage her. Under such control, you can “insert” anything for a person. Therefore, the task of Ukrainians is to be calm, so that we are not led by those who launch these missiles, but so that we control ourselves and decide what and how we will do on our territory,” the psychologist stressed.
The expert also gave advice on how to cope with “phantom” anxieties, that is, when a person hears an alarm when it is not there.
“What are we doing?
- We tell our loved ones about it, so that when there is a real air alarm, they tell us about it.
- Set yourself applications that will indicate that there is really an air alarm now.
- Limit reading news, horror stories, etc. limit the negative. I’m not saying that you need to hide from it at all. No, but limit, or ask those people who have everything “OK” with this, so that they say where there is news, so that you know what and how.
If this alarm is already in your head, it is “phantom”, which is the first thing? We identify ourselves: Who am I? Where am I located? Who are all these people near me?. Then we begin to do something with our hands. Motility starts the brain process, a person “grounds” himself here and now. It then passes,” Gorokhova-Torovik explained.
