In the village of Pidluzhzhya, near Ivano-Frankivsk, there is a farm with six buffaloes of the Carpathian breed.
Hungarian mangalitsa pigs, French mini sheep, Boer goats, donkeys are bred on the farm.
According to the owner of the farm Roman Yakovyn, the animals became a good attraction for tourists on the farm. There are photo zones, where from the spring flowering of the garden to autumn is especially crowded.
Comment: “Carpathian buffaloes are an expensive pleasure, because one calf costs up to 500 euros, an adult animal – four times more. But buffalo milk is highly valued for its high content of protein, fat, calcium and other trace elements, vitamins A and B, much lower cholesterol than cow’s milk. It is used to make mozzarella a” says Roman Yakovyn.
The farmer aims to create a contact eco-farm and buy more buffaloes. According to the Prykarpattia resident, free grazing of animals among beautiful landscapes attracts tourists.
Currently, the farmer uses a total of 114 hectares: 8 hectares of apple orchard and 15 hectares of walnut plantations, 60 hectares of arable land. The rest is under pasture. An excellent base for animal husbandry, which Roman Yakovyn initially decided to do purely for his own needs: he bought several heads of a Hungarian gray cow. Now the population has grown to twenty. There are five cows of the Carpathian storm breed.
