According to the information published by the specialists of the State Food and Consumer Service, as of December 24, Ukrainian farmers used a total of 40.8 thousand tons of various pesticides on an area of 46.2 thousand hectares.
The largest number of pesticides used to protect crops from pests, diseases and weeds was used by farmers of Vinnytsia region – 3.1 thousand tons. Slightly less (3.1 thousand tons) was used by agricultural producers of Poltava region.
The least pesticides were used in Zakarpattia (330 tons) and Ivano-Frankivsk region (614 tons).
In addition to the chemical method of plant protection, farmers also actively used biological (on an area of 1.72 thousand hectares).
Such data show that on 1 thousand hectares on average agrarians use a little less than 1 ton of pesticides. At the same time, volumes in 2020 decreased compared to 2019.
