The decision to install the country’s main Christmas tree in Kyiv will be made after consultations with the defense forces. This was reported by the KCSA, responding to a petition from Kyiv residents regarding the inappropriateness of the New Year tree during the war .

As noted, the Kyiv City Council Commission on Culture, Tourism and Public Communications recommended that the relevant departments take into account all proposals for non-use of budget funds, compliance with safety measures and energy savings, but did not support the proposal not to install a Christmas tree.
“The decision to install the main Christmas tree of the country will be made following consultations with the command of the group of forces and means of defense of the city of Kyiv,” the message says.
If, after consultations with the military, they decide to install the Christmas tree, budget funds will not be spent on it, the KCSA said.
“Patrons and socially responsible businesses turned to the city with a proposal to help in the installation and design of the Christmas tree. If the Christmas tree is installed, the city, together with law enforcement officers, will take care of security measures,” the message says.
