“This morning, November 20, 2022, as a result of numerous Russian shelling, at least 12 “arrivals” were recorded at the site of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. As a result, communication ramps with special buildings, tanks of chemical and salt water supply, a system of purge of steam generators, auxiliary systems of one of the two station-wide diesel engines and other equipment of the station infrastructure were damaged. Three hits were also recorded in the area of the Rainbow substation. Information about damage and destruction there is still being clarified,” the statement said.
Energoatom added that the nature and list of damaged equipment of ZNPP indicates that the rashists targeted and disabled exactly the infrastructure that was necessary to launch power units 5 and 6 and restore electricity production by Zaporizhzhia NPP for the needs of Ukraine.
“Recently, Energoatom made a decision, and the SNRIU granted permission to withdraw power units 5 and 6 to the minimum controlled power level to obtain steam, which is critically needed in the winter of the year to ensure the safety of power units, personnel, the public and the environment. The Rashists tried in every possible way to prevent the Ukrainian personnel of the station from launching power units. The fake director of the station from Rosatom Romanenko, with the assistance of the Russian military, who seized the ZNPP and used it as their own military base, blocked the preparation of power units to bring to the minimum power level. However, this was not enough for them, and today the Rashists fired and damaged exactly the equipment, the failure of which makes it impossible for any further actions to start the ZNPP power units,” the message says.
