“We see a lot of questions about why some cities are shut down more often than others. Let’s not look for a black cat in a dark room when she’s not there. In short, there are substations and networks that transport electricity between the station that generates electricity and our homes as the end user. Russian terrorists are hitting these targets. Because of this, it is sometimes impossible to transport a large amount of electricity to certain regions or districts, so restrictions occur unevenly throughout the country,” Shmyhal explained.

The Prime Minister denied rumors about the situation in the energy sector. In particular, he stressed that Ukraine has not been selling electricity to the European Union since October 11, when Russia’s massive attack on the Ukrainian energy system began. Currently, Ukraine’s power plants work only for Ukrainians, Shmyhal said.

Volodymyr Kudrytsky, chairman of Ukrenergo, in a comment to the UNN journalist, responded to the statement of Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of YASNO energy supplier about power outages until at least the end of March next year and noted that everything will depend on the dynamics of destruction and restorations.
Ukrenergo also explained that the likelihood of blackout depends on the scale of damage to the power system.
