NATO leaders are again considering the idea that was abandoned in the first days of a full-scale war – providing Ukraine with MiG-29 and F-16 fighter jets. James Stavridis, the former commander of NATO forces in Europe, stated this in his column for Bloomberg .

James Stavridis suggested that Ukraine could receive more high-tech air-to-surface missile systems, Patriot systems and possibly tactical fighter jets.
“Leaders in the capitals of NATO countries are also reviewing the idea that was abandoned in the first days of the war: to provide either Soviet-era MiG-29 fighters (the Poles offered to transfer them to the Ukrainians), or even surplus American F-16s, an easy-to-use multi-purpose fighter,” – Stavridis said.
He added that without such measures, the “air war” will continue in favor of Putin.
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the NSDC , said that the most effective solution to the energy problem for Ukraine is missiles with a range of 800 kilometers or more, which will make it possible to significantly save on generators.
