Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Wednesday that NATO diplomats had given him “a number of new commitments” regarding his country’s armaments, but declined to say whether that included promises of the coveted Patriot systems, AP reports .

Kuleba spoke at a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries in Bucharest, Romania. Equipping Ukraine with weapons and equipment to restore its destroyed power grid, so that it could survive the winter under Russian bombings, was a top issue, the publication notes.
At the meeting, “we heard a number of commitments, new commitments from various NATO members to provide Ukraine with more defense weapons and energy equipment,” Kuleba told reporters.
Kuleba said Tuesday that Ukraine most needs Patriot systems and electrical transformers to deal with what NATO says is a targeted Russian missile strike aimed at knocking out Ukraine’s power system before winter sets in.
As indicated, Ukraine is seeking American-made Patriot or other air defense systems more advanced than those it has received from the United States and other allies to block Russian airstrikes. Kuleba did not respond to repeated questions from a reporter before a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Wednesday about whether he had received any commitments on the Patriot systems.
“What is clear to me … is that the support remains strong, firm and definite” from NATO foreign ministers for continued support of Ukraine with arms and other assistance, Blinken said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, previously reported that he spoke with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken just during another massive missile attack on Ukraine and emphasized the need to speed up the delivery of air defense systems to Ukraine.
