The damage caused by the Russian Federation to Ukraine is estimated at 600 billion euros. Russia and its oligarchs must cover the costs of rebuilding the country. This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in an address published on her Twitter page .

She noted that the EU has the means to make Russia pay.
“We have blocked 300 billion euros of reserves of the central bank of Russia and frozen 19 billion euros of money from Russian oligarchs. In the short term, we could create a structure with our partners to manage and invest these funds. Then we would use the proceeds for Ukraine,” she said.
Von der Leyen added that as soon as the sanctions are lifted, these funds should be used to ensure that Russia pays full compensation for the damage caused to Ukraine.
