The issue of expanding the sanctions lists on the part of both Ukraine and our Western partners is urgent, so they will expand.
“We are constantly working to expand the sanctions list. I am convinced that sanctions will continue to be imposed against those who support Russian aggression or are subjects of the Russian Federation, I am convinced of this for sure. I am convinced that sanctions will continue on the part of Western partners, because I operate on the information that we have during the negotiations,” Venislavsky said.
In turn, Solomiya Bobrovska, a people’s deputy from the Holos, noted that the issue of expanding the sanctions list is very relevant, because there are a huge number of companies in the country that are still associated with Russians, but continue to operate in Ukraine.
“I think it’s on time because the purge was insufficient and shallow. Moreover, the last list showed that there are still a huge number of businesses that are tied to the ultimate beneficiaries of the Russian Federation,” Bobrovska said.
Challengers
The list of persons to whom Ukraine has imposed anti-Russian sanctions still does not include former Odesa MP Ruslan Tarpan and his Russian business partner Ramil Shaidullin.
Both are members of the circle of founders of several companies (Grand Hotel, Compass Project, Kvartal Russova), which still operate in Odessa. At the same time, both of them are the defendants of the “Peacemaker” as, as stated on the base page, “corrupt officials and saboteurs in the field of economics” and “suspected of ties with the FSB of Russia.”
To the topic
According to political analyst Oleksandr Kochetkov, the fact that a large number of businessmen who are wanted, associated with Russia or suspected of collaborationism continue to work in Ukraine is a flaw inthe Security Service of Ukraine.
Recall
Ruslan Tarpan was arrested in absentia in Ukraine as part of a criminal proceeding for the embezzlement of millions of hryvnias on the Deepwater Release project.
Since 2017, he has been wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and since 2021 he has been on the interstate wanted list.
According to Sergei Gutsalyuk, Tarpan is closely associated with the Russian special services.
