Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak tweeted that the decision of the G7 justice ministers to start investigating Russian war crimes in Ukraine is Russia’s first step towards a tribunal .

“Russia has never had ‘legitimate purposes’ in Ukraine. Russia, in violation of international law, has invaded a foreign country, deliberately destroys its infrastructure and commits massacres. The G7’s decision to launch the process of investigating ru-crimes is the first step towards the inevitable. To the tribunal,” Podolyak wrote.

The meeting of G7 justice ministers ended with the adoption of the Berlin Declaration and an agreement to coordinate cooperation to investigate Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine.
