EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in an interview with Dziennik.pl that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is using winter as an instrument of war .

“Putin’s brutal aggression leads to further defeats: he failed to achieve any of the declared goals of the war, his troops who killed and robbed are retreating, and he does not have the resources to confront Ukrainians on the battlefield. Therefore, Russia resorts to such ruthless tactics as the bombing of civilian infrastructure. At the same time, Putin is trying to inflict as much suffering and destruction as possible on the civilian population, to force people to submit to the cold, and to use winter as an instrument of war,” he said.

Borrell assured that the EU would continue to provide the necessary assistance to the country to win the war – diplomatic, financial, economic, humanitarian and military. He noted that today the European Union has provided Ukraine with military equipment for at least $ 8 billion, as well as conducting training of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).
The EU’s top diplomat also noted the assistance provided by Poland since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
“What Poland is doing for Ukrainians is the best manifestation of European solidarity. The same applies to Moldova, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and other countries that have accepted a huge number of Ukrainian refugees and bear the cost of their maintenance,” he said.
