The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the submission to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a draft law on the termination of the agreement with the Russian Federation on simplified border crossing to residents of border regions.

“The Government of Ukraine has decided to submit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft law developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the termination of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on the procedure for crossing the Ukrainian-Russian state border by residents of the border regions of Ukraine and the Russian Federation dated 18.10.2011,” the message says.
It is reported that the aforementioned agreement does not actually apply from July 1, 2022 in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 692.
It is noted that the draft law was prepared as part of the implementation of a set of measures to counter threats to Ukraine’s national security.

On July 1,a visa regime with Russia began to operate in Ukraine. The relevant resolution was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on June 17.
First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevgeny Yenin noted that the visa obtained would not guarantee crossing the border.
