Ukrainian troops may be preparing for the fourth counteroffensive, according to the American publication Forbes .
Details
It is reported that on December 9, an artillery battle allegedly took place between Ukrainian and Russian troops in the area of Gulyaipol and Pologiv in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to Russian sources, this battle was provoked by the alleged accumulation of mechanized forces.
“If true, it could be a sign that Ukraine’s fourth counteroffensive could begin as winter approaches. This long-awaited attack would aim to liberate much of southern Ukraine and push Ukrainian forces all the way to the narrow isthmus that connects mainland Ukraine with the Crimean Peninsula,” Forbes columnist David Ax notes.
The liberation of Melitopol may require more than just a couple of “heavy” (armored) brigades, since “at least half a dozen “heavy” brigades took part in previous counterattacks,” the publication writes. It is noted that in order to liberate Melitopol, then turn right and liberate eastern Kherson region on the left bank of the Dnieper, it is necessary to advance 200 miles and defeat a dozen or more Russian brigades and regiments.
