U.S. general and former NATO chief in Europe, Philip Breedlove, said the U.S. could step up its assistance to Ukrainian servicemen to combat Russian aggression. According to him, it is necessary to give Ukraine the opportunity to inflict deep blows on the aggressor. He emphasized this in an interview with the Russian service of the Voice of America .

“I think we should revise our rules on the types of weapons that we supply to Ukraine, and we should give them more opportunities to launch deep strikes against the aggressor. And we, by our limitations, actually created a safe shelter for the Russian army on its territory. The facts are that Russia is attacking Ukraine from almost three sides, and we limit Ukraine in its capabilities of retaliatory shelling. I would say to all our politicians: “You must do everything possible to help Ukraine defeat Russia,” Breedlove said.

He noted that Russia was completely incapable of waging a modern conventional war.
“They just can’t wage such a war, so they slipped into what they did in Chechnya, what they did in Syria, when they just completely destroyed cities, destroyed the civilian population and all the structures that ensured their lives – and that’s the only thing they can do. They are not capable of waging what we call a modern combined armed conflict,” the general said.
At this, Breedlove stressed that the West would not fight on the side of Ukraine against Russia, because the world avoids a situation in which Russian soldiers would clash with NATO soldiers.
In addition, the West is holding back Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s threats to “turn all this into a third world war or a nuclear conflict.”
