Russia will reduce natural gas production and exports in 2022 due to the shutdown of export infrastructure. This was announced in an interview with the state Russian media by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak .

Novak claims that gas production and exports will “forcedly fall” this year. “Gas production at the end of the year will be 12% less than in 2021, and exports will decrease by about a quarter. This is primarily due to the shutdown of the export infrastructure,” he said.
Novak added that the production and export of liquefied natural gas will increase by more than 8.7%.

Last week, Novak said that Russia this year would reduce gas production by 18-20%, to 671 billion cubic meters. It is planned that out of these volumes 470 billion cubic meters will be directed to the domestic market. Gazprom reported that from January to December 394.1 billion cubic meters were mined. m of gas, 19.6% less than a year earlier.
In 2021, gas production in the Russian Federation reportedly increased by 10%, exports – by 3%.
