Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 9, 2021 – Local News
The expert of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future Iliya Kusa said in the international arena, Ukraine is being marginalized, and this is the main challenge for the country this year.
“We are stagnating, otherwise I cannot name everything that is happening with Ukraine’s foreign policy,” Kusa said.
According to him, there were several good moments in international politics in 2020. This is a visit to Britain and the signing of an agreement, a visit to Turkey, with which relations at the level of top officials developed well.

But all these steps were “tactical,” and the problem of Ukraine has remained the same for several years.
“We are stagnating, as we are closed on several issues that constantly sound in public space: NATO, Donbass – Crimea and external financial assistance that Ukraine receives from the United States, then from the European Union,” the expert explained.
As Kusa noted, in Ukraine they are afraid to take a specific position on this or that issue, especially in dialogue with those who are stronger.
“Ukraine’s problem with the US is that they are limited only by security issues. We receive annually from America just over $ 400 million in military aid, which goes to pay salaries to the American advisers themselves and to purchase, again, American equipment and weapons, ”the analyst said.
“We are in solidarity with the United States on the position regarding Russia, Donbass and Crimea, and that’s all. There is no investment policy, the share of trade is small, there are no large infrastructure projects with the United States, and they have not seriously entered the energy sector” he added.
