The power deficit in the power system has increased, some units of power plants have stopped due to shelling of the gas pipeline in the east of Ukraine. Consumption limits have been established for all areas, exceeding them leads to the application of emergency shutdowns. Thanks to the relatively warm weather, the consumption is not limited for the 4th night in a row, the Ukrenergo NEC reported .

“As of December 28, the electricity deficit in the system has increased. This is due to the shutdown of some power plant blocks due to the shelling of the gas infrastructure in the eastern region. At the same time, thanks to the relatively warm weather, consumption restrictions are not applied at night for the fourth day in a row. However, as a result of the available capacity in the system is not enough to satisfy all the needs of consumers in the country,” Ukrenergo reported.

The company indicated that Ukraine’s energy system has endured 9 missile attacks and 12 UAV attacks by Russians over the past three months. As a result, generation facilities and transmission systems suffered large-scale and complex damage. “For their restoration, considerable resources and time are needed,” the NEC noted.
“The enemy is not going to stop in his intentions to plunge the country into darkness. Energy engineers are preparing for any possible scenarios and will restore the power system under any conditions,” Ukrenergo said.
