Last day, Russian troops shelled more than 20 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, in particular, in Gulyaipol, Stepnohirsk, and Orikhov. This was reported by the communication department of the Zaporizhzhia region police .

“Yesterday, January 9, the army of the Russian Federation shelled more than 20 settlements in the region. The enemy used aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, artillery and anti-aircraft missiles. Residential dwellings were significantly damaged, and civilian infrastructure in the district centers of the region was also damaged,” the police reported.

According to reports, the occupiers attacked Gulyaipole, Orihiv, Mala Tokmachka, Luhivske, Biloghirya, Chervone, Omelnyk, Novopavlivka, Novodanilivka, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Olhivske, Dorozhnianka, Malynivka, Shcherbaki, Poltavka, Magdalinivka, Stepove, Plavni, Kamianivka, Mali Shcherbaki. In particular:
- During the day, the Russian military searched Gulyaipol and nearby villages. Private homes and apartments of local residents came under fire, buildings of local enterprises and organizations were destroyed.
- Residents of Orihiv Oblast suffered considerable losses. Windows were broken in people’s houses, roofs were gutted.
- Also, the village of Stepnohirsk, Vasyliv district, came under enemy fire again. During the armed attack, homes of local residents were damaged, fences and homesteads were cut by shrapnel from “hail” projectiles.

British intelligence notes that the command of the occupiers is most likely concerned about the possibility of major Ukrainian offensive actions in two directions: either in the north of the Luhansk region, or in Zaporizhzhia.
