Twenty-one countries are involved in the investigation of Russian war crimes in Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Eurojust, Ladislav Khamran, in an interview with the LRT publication .

“The vast majority of investigations are carried out in EU countries. Of the 21 countries where surveys are conducted, 14 are members of the EU. Another four countries, including Ukraine, are in Europe, but are not members of the EU. The other three countries are not part of the EU – the USA, Canada and Great Britain,” Hamran said.

He explained that the collection of evidence of crimes and their analysis can last up to several years.
Currently, each of the participating countries conducts its own investigations, after which it must submit a report and recorded statements of victims and witnesses.
“We have an idea to centralize all the collected evidence, analyze it and advise countries, for example, to come to the conclusion that war crimes were committed in certain regions and that there is evidence of this,” added the Eurojust president.

The UK has announced that justice ministers from around the world will gather in London to expand the support offered to the International Criminal Court in its investigations into war crimes in Ukraine.
