The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the Georgian authorities to immediately stop abusing the country’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili in prison and hand him over to Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses a strong protest against the inhumane treatment of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, who is being held behind bars in Georgia. In the worst traditions of the NKVD of the USSR, the Georgian authorities are using psychological and physical violence against Mikheil Saakashvili, denying him urgently needed medical care, deliberately creating a direct threat to his life,” the statement reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that “gross violation of human rights against a Ukrainian citizen goes against the declared course of Tbilisi for EU membership and shows the collapse of democracy in Georgia.”
“We call on the Georgian authorities to immediately stop abusing Mikheil Saakashvili and hand him over to Ukraine. Do not play with a person’s life for the sake of political revenge,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also appeals to foreign governments and international organizations to publicly defend the Ukrainian citizen, the former president of Georgia, whose life was in danger due to political repression by the Georgian authorities.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy , said that the government of Georgia is killing Ukrainian citizen Mykhailo Saakashvili, who is publicly tortured every day.
The politician’s health deteriorated significantly after two hunger strikes. Saakashvili has been under guard at the Vivamed Tbilisi clinic since May.
According to mass media, the imprisoned third president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili, who is in the Vivamed clinic, is being transferred to the intensive care unit.
