US President Joe Biden described Trump’s threats to the North Atlantic as “stupid” and “shameful” statements made by Donald Trump regarding NATO, in one of the president’s most violent attacks yet on his potential Republican rival in the November elections.
The 81-year-old Democrat accused his predecessor of caving in to Russian President Vladimir Putin, after Trump said he would encourage Moscow to attack NATO members who failed to meet their financial obligations.
“For God’s sake, this is stupid, it’s shameful, it’s dangerous, it’s un-American,” Biden said in a televised address from the White House urging the House to approve vital war aid to Ukraine.
