The lower house of the Czech Parliament classified Russia as the main security threat to the Czechs and declared the need for continued support for Ukraine.
“The Czech Republic confirms that Putin’s war against Ukraine has not achieved success, that Ukraine is defending and restoring its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, and that the Russian regime is effectively repelled from any further aggression against Europe,” the resolution adopted on Thursday said.
The document urges that Ukraine continue to receive international assistance.
The lawmakers warned that “stopping the supply of military equipment will lead to the invasion and destruction of Ukraine by the Russian terrorist regime and encourage this regime to continue its invasions against European countries.”
According to Czech lawmakers, the government must also continue to increase Czechia’s defense capacity and fulfill its obligations to NATO regarding its financing.
The Chamber urged politicians not to support with their statements any of the war propaganda promoted by the terrorist Russian regime.
The ruling coalition’s proposal was supported by 84 deputies, with a minimum of 72 votes. The vote was preceded by a 19-hour discussion.
