During a visit to Kiev on Thursday, Estonian Defense Minister Hannu Pefkur announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 20 million euros, which will include artillery ammunition, recoilless anti-tank guns, explosives, various types of artillery ammunition, gas masks, sniper equipment, and ammunition. “We have put this package together with a focus on providing maximum benefit to Ukraine while making sure not to underestimate Estonian defense readiness,” said Estonian Defense Minister Hannu Pefkur, who has already met with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustam Omerov.
It is noteworthy that the new aid package includes 155 mm artillery shells, which is an additional contribution from Estonia to the European Union initiative to send one million shells to Ukraine. Estonia’s contribution will be partly financed by Denmark. The exact number of rounds was not revealed for security reasons.
According to Pevkor, with the approach of summer, Ukraine first of all needs ammunition, all elements of air defense, as well as spare parts and electronic warfare systems.
