Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 14, 2021 – Technology
This time, the company has been sued for infringing on patents for wireless communications through its iPhone and other cellular products. Earlier this week the complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Texas. The lawsuit alleges that the Cupertino-based giant knowingly infringed the rights to five intellectual property owned by Neo Wireless, LLC of Delaware.
The patents were for some of the basic systems that are related to wireless communication, frequency bands and other mobile network technologies. The lawsuit is technically aimed at ensuring that the iPhone uses multiple cellular networks. This includes 4G LTE and 5G networks. The complaint states that “for the use of LTE or 4G and NR or 5G networks, the iPhone is manufactured in accordance with wireless standards, such as 3GPP standards, which ensure the compatibility of wireless devices and wireless networks.”

Although not specifically mentioned, the lawsuit is also aimed at the Apple Watch and iPad, as it is alleged that these products are subject to infringement claims, as are other cellular devices from the company. The complaint currently requires a jury trial and requires the company to pay damages, costs and other costs associated with patent infringement. This also includes the payment of attorneys’ fees and current fees.
