Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 16, 2021 – International News
British open-access rail operators Grand Central and Hull Trains, in response to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, announced the suspension of the circulation of all their trains: the first – until March 1, and the second without a date to resume traffic.
In addition, the rest of the UK rail operators, following the announcement of lockdowns in England, Scotland and Wales, have announced reductions in the number of trains on their schedules in the coming weeks.
The UK rail network is expected to operate on average 72% of trains compared to the dock. Prior to the announcement of the last lockdowns, this figure was about 90%, while the demand for transportation was still subdued.
In particular, the passenger operator Great Western Railway (GWR) has confirmed that it will reduce train numbers to 80% from normal levels from 11 January 2021.

Building on the experience of previous lockdowns, the new timetable will retain trains during peak hours, as well as those used by workers in vital areas of the economy.
All train reductions will be made in such a way that in the shortest possible time it will be possible to return to the usual schedule. Operators will continue to monitor the current demand for transportation in order to respond in a timely manner to changes.
As for the tickets already purchased for canceled trains, they are subject to exchange, and in some cases, their cost may be refunded. So, tickets purchased before January 4, 2021 can be exchanged for another date or voucher. However, their value is non-refundable. Any other tickets, including off-peak trains, can be exchanged for other dates or returned.
