French motorcyclist Pierre Sherpen died after injuries sustained during the Dakar Rally Marathon in Saudi Arabia.
The motorcyclist was involved in an accident on the 7th stage of the Dakar Rally, receiving a severe brain injury, but today the organizers of the competition announced that he died on board a medical plane that was transporting him from Saudi Arabia to France.

It is said that Sherpen was operated on and put in an artificial coma, in which he was for several days, his condition was assessed as stable. The racer was taken to Jeddah, from where he was to be flown to Lille (France).
Note that Sherpen participated in the “Dakar” for the fourth time. He was not a professional racer.
The racer from the Netherlands died a week after the accident in the Dakar Rally.
