Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 17, 2021 – Sport
The third racket of Ukraine Marta Kostyuk will undergo a 14-day quarantine after a flight from Abu Dhabi to Australia, where the main grid “AUS Open” will take place.
23 players of this flight, including Kostyuk and her sparring partner, the Spaniard Paula Badoza, were among the players who flew on the flight from Abu Dhabi, one of the passengers (not a player) who passed a positive test for coronavirus. They will have to stay in their hotel rooms and will not be able to go to training.
“We can’t fight to be released. The government will never go for it. We can express our point of view, for example, for other players to be quarantined too, so that there is no such dishonest situation when we remain in quarantine, and others can train, but this initiative should come from these players, not from us, it seems to me that positive tests are still possible on other flights, so far I personally have not received the result of my test and I know that many other tennis players from this flight is also waiting for its results.

If they leave us in quarantine, then we should have more comfortable conditions. For example, we do not have a very good “wi-fi”, some I know that it does not exist. Firstly, to sit like that all the quarantine is a kind of torture, and secondly, we will not be able to physically call our physical training coaches to get tasks and train in the room. We need to give the treadmills to a room or bike that could be requested at first. I didn’t do it then because I didn’t expect to be in the room all the time, and I didn’t need him. When we get out of quarantine, the organizers should give us priority to train before the first tournament. So that we have more opportunities to prepare, although, of course, everyone understands that it will be almost impossible to do it in a couple of days.”
According to the safety protocol in Australia because of a coronavirus pandemic all visitors have to pass a two-week quarantine, but participants of “Australian Open” received an exception in the form of five hours a day which can be spent out of numbers (2 hours – training on a court, 2 hours – fitness, 1 hour – to eat).
